THANK YOU KATHERINE FOR YOUR GREAT REVIEW!
How could I have not known about El Tio until this week?! I have lived in Charlottesville for almost 15 years! What a wonderful market! There isn't much signage for the store, it's next to the Shebeen and Subway on Ridge Street, in the lower level of the Staples building.
I grew up in Los Angeles, with access to an abundance of Mexican and Latin grocery stores and markets I would spend hours in finding the most wonderful treasures. This is a fairly large neighborhood grocery store with just about everything. Great selection of tortillas, flours, sauces, cheeses, beans, frozen fruits and veggies, and other traditional Spanish foods. I am so impressed by the herbs and seasonings they have along with the dried goods.

CONT. KATHERINE S. YELP REVIEW
From chia seeds to hibiscus flowers for tea, to cinchona bark and Valerian root in their pure form, I am able to get products I cannot typically find for great prices!
They also have a large cooler of Mexican popsicles in every flavor, what a treat! Fresh mango, with lime and chili if you like, by the checkout too! And large cold bottles of aloe juice in the largest variety of flavors I've ever seen!
